Face Pack Friday: Yardley Oatmeal Brightening Scrub/Mask

I'm super excited to intoduce a new little feature I will be doing on the blog..Face Pack Friday! There is nothing better than coming home after a long week at work, kicking your shoes off, pouring your favourite drink, lazing on the couch and slapping on a face mask. Bliss!
I love putting on a face mask at the end of the week to get rid of the pesky build up from the weeks make up.
This week I'm introducing you to one of my all time favourite masks, Yardley's Oatmeal Brightening Scrub & Mask...

I first discovered this face mask in 2010, I was looking for a mask that would exfoliate and give my skin a little wake up, my little friend over here delivered.

With actual oat and grapefruit extracts in, you could eat it for breakfast, but I wouldn't as it smells rather clay like ;)
I pop the mask on in an even layer and leave on my face until it has gone super hard, can't move your face kind of hard :) Once the mask has set, I find the best way to remove the mask is by lightly wetting your face with warm water, and working the mask off in cicular motions to allow the mask to gently exfoliate your face. You may need to change the water as the little exfoliating pieces don't disintegrate.

The Oatmeal Mask definately does leave your face looking radiant and glowing. Pop on your favourite moisturiser and you are good to go!

You can also use this mask as a bi-weekly exfoliating scrub, you could use it every day, but I don't like to over exfoliate my skin.

The best part of this mask, its only R 74.95! How's that for a bargain! You can purchase at Pick 'n Pay, Dischem, Clicks and even Foschini.

I'd love to know which is your favourite face mask, let me know in the comments below!

Until next time...

Johnsons Hydration Essentials

Lady luck was on my side the day I recieved these awesome products to try, thanks to the wonderful team over at Beauty Bulletin. In the summer months I am a sucker for the fresher smelling products, and boy did this product deliver.

I recieved both the Facial Cleanser and 2-in-1 Facial Gel and Mask. There is also a range of facial wipes that I am dying to try! Lets get to the nitty gritty of it all, shall we?

Facial Cleanser

I personally loved the cleanser, the ocean minerals in the formular add the most amazing punch of freshness when applied. It's such a brilliant way to wake up in the morning :) The cleanser works brilliantly if you are looking for a product that will also help with an efficient removal of your make up. The product boasts that it is a non-drying cleanser, in my experience when most products state this, my face never feels entirely clean. However this isn't the case with the Hydration Essentials range, I wasn't left with the "tight skinned" feel after washing and my skin felt refreshingly clean.

2-in-1 Facial Gel/Mask

I was skeptical about the Facial Gel, and I felt like a complete chop after using it! It's no secret that I have super oily skin, gels don't generally work for me, I either break out or look like a grease ball. But what I loved about this product was that it absorbed right into my skin, no residue was left behind, only soft beautifully supple skin. The only down side to the gel was that I didn't want to use it for every day use as it doesn't have a build in SPF, but I can understand that as it is a 2-in-1 you can't exactly put an SPF in.

I loved using the mask after a long day in the pool. My skin felt dry and stretched, so I decided to pop the mask on and see how things went. The brilliant thing about the mask is all the awesome action happens in just 3 minutes! My face was left feeling hydrated, nourished and soft as silk.

What I find the most brilliant about this product is the price:
Johnsons Hydration Essentials Facial Cleanser R 47.95
Johnsons Hydration Essentials 2-in-1 Gel Mask R 69.95

How's that for a bargain!

If you would like to see my "In person" reaction to these products, feel free to watch the vidoe below :)

Until next time....

October Favourites

I know we are already into November, but I had a really off week last week and felt that if I had to blog I would blog half heartedly and I never want to do that. So I took some time off and got my self in check and now I'm back to my weird self, all is right in the world ;)

So now that that's over, lets head into monthly favourites:)

My face care favourite this month is from Dirty Works, their Brightening Mask with added Vitamin C!

The mask has a clay like consistency (I prefer these kinds) with little Pomegranate and Goji exfoliating spheres, these super fruit bits help to clean away any dirty and remove dead skin cells. I apply the mask and walk around like a ghost lady until the mask has hardened to a point where I can't even speak, then I know it's ready.

To remove I splash a little warm water and start to loosed the mask and rub the mask in cicular motions to get my exfoliation on.
This is a great mask that will assist in achieving that youthful dewy look.

Next up we have an eye favourite, which I am super happy about. For the last year I have been using the Maybelline Falsies Flared mascara, although I love it, I wanted to try something new. I purchased another Maybelline mascara (which I won't mention now) and to say I was disappointed in an understatement, but I will talk more about that in a later post. I then got some awesome advice from Megan (check out her blog, www.beautyblog.co.za) she recommended the Catrice Better Than False Lashes mascara.

There are three things that I flippen love about this mascara

1) The colour, this mascara is the blackest black you could imagine.
2) The formula lasts all day, BUT, I don't struggle to remove my mascara at the end of the day
3) It holds a curl! I can't stand it when I have curled my lashes to perfection (well as perfect as I can handle for that day) and then my mascara weighs it down in 5 seconds.

So it's no wonder this mascara made it into my top picks for October.

My body favourite is a proudly South African product. If you are in South Africa, you have probably heard about the awesome company called Hey Gorgeous. I love their products and they have the worlds greatest customer services, what more could you want?

I unfortunately suffer from Keratosis Pilaris (chicken skin) on my arms. For years and years I have been trying to get rid of it, with no luck. So when I heard that their Flax Oil Skin Serum could help reduce the appearance, I jumped at the o, pportunity. I have vowed to try the product for a full month and then give a review on it, but I just had to sneak this gem into my October favourites because I am super impressed so far. I will have a post in the middle of November to give you a full run down! You can purchase the serum HERE

My hair care favourite this month is one that I had extremely high hopes for, and I wasn't disappointed! I have used Dove soap for years and years and was so excited when they launched hair care products a while back. I am all for products that I can leave in my hair that can protect my hair and not weigh it down, this one is at the top of my list

This is the Dove Damage Solution Colour Radiance Leave-In Conditioning & Care Spray (that's a long ass name!). It is the perfect lightweight leave in conditioning spray. You won't be able to see it in this picture, but the actual formula is a dual formula that seperates when left to rest. The first level has Fibre Actives which have been proven to improve the internatl structure of the hair fibre. The second layer has a UV Filter, which if you colour your hair you will know is awesome to help keep your hair colour vibrant.

I spray this onto my hair just after I have showered as well as on my hair inbetween washes to give it a little more oomph and shine!

My nail favourite this month is a polish you have seen me wear non-stop (if you follow me on Instagram).

I have this colour on 20 days out of the 31 in October, it is Morgan Taylor's Waterbaby. I love this baby blue, its perfect for Spring and Summer!

My accesory favourite is this cute leaf bundle necklace from Mr Price that I picked up for R 29,99 what a steal! You can purchase the necklace HERE

Lastly for my October Favourites is my handbag favourite! These stinking cute little nail files from Essence. They come in a pack of 6, and the entire pack is the same size as a credit card. I find that my nails will break at the most inconvenient of times, so this little pack comes in handy!

Can we just take a moment to appreciate how cute these are, I picked them up for R 39.99!

I purchased all of the products above, except for the necklace and Flax Serum, from Dischem for under R 100.

I hope you enjoyed this ridiculously long post!

Until next time....

My Love For Lip-Ice

Recently (by recently I mean about two months ago, yes I know I know) I won an Instagram competition through Beauty South Africa. The theme was pastel, so I assembled all of my most favourite pastel coloured treasures and took this picture...

And I was lucky enough to win one of the awesomely amazing Lip Ice hampers...

I personally love Lip Ice, it's my go to lip product 98% of the time, so to win this was a dream come true. Beauty South Africa also sent me one of their lovely pens (the hat is mine).

(Lip Ice JellO's Cooling Mint)

(Lip Ice JellO's Cherry)

(Lip Ice JellO's Original)

Prior to winning the competition I was walking around with 3 of the Cooling Mint Lip Ice pots in my bag, so to say I am a fan is an understatement. The Cooling Mint and Cherry pots have a slight scent and flavouring to them. The original is just that...original...no scent or taste. I love love love the little vitamin E beads, they pop when you rub the balm into your lips.
One of my the best things I like to do it pop my Cooling Mint pot into the fridge and then use it, great for the hot summer days!

I was very suprised to see that they had changed the packaging on their balm sticks.

(Lip Ice Honey Cream)

(Lip Ice Cherry)

It was great to try these new Lip Ice's. They also have a scent and flavour to them with added SPF 15, perfect for a summers day!

Thank you to Beauty South Africa and Lip Ice for this amazing prize, I will have stunningly hydrated lips till the end of 2015 :)

Until next time...
